Shocking Wembanyama photo will stun and silence all haters immediately

Few players have as much breakout potential heading into next season as San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama. He is already a top-15 NBA player and has a chance to emerge as a top 5 superstar next season if he reaches his full potential.

Judging by his offseason, he could be well on his way. He was recently spotted training with Hakeem Olajuwon, hopefully bolstering his post-up game. Now comes a new photo showing off his physical transformation.

He looks absolutely shredded, with him clearly in the best playing shape of his career. Not only that, but he has clearly put on weight, with him going from being 225 when he was first drafted to being 265 by his own admission.

Normally a player gaining 40 lbs in two years would be a huge red flag. But given his height and length, him tacking on mass should only lead to great things for Wembanyama.

Victor Wembanyama leveling up would transform the Spurs

Previously, teams could force him out of the post by being physical with him. But with him having more weight to throw around, he can hopefully hold his position better. As a result, he could command more double teams or punish teams that decide to play him straight up.

With more work on his post-game, that should lead to more higher-percentage shots and even more free throws. Aside from adding more muscle, him fully recovering from deep vein thrombosis (DVT) should dramatically help him next season.

He had a rough start to last season before playing like a top-five player for a couple of months before seeing his production slip. Still, at his peak he was absolutely dominant.

Wembanyama's transformation could lead to a dominant season

In December of last year, he averaged 28.5 points, 10 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 4.4 blocks while shooting 37.7% from three. Those are real stats folks.

And if he can play anywhere near that level over the course of next season, the Spurs might go from being a lottery team to being a top four team in the Western Conference.

We know now that his sluggish play late last season was a symptom of DVT. We also didn't get to see how he would have developed playing from February until April alongside De'Aaron Fox.

It's possible that Wembanyama could already be far better next season than expected. That's due to him having already put up truly special numbers before being ruled out for the rest of last season and having seven months to add to his game.

Even a modest improvement as a shooter and as a post player could transform him into an elite player. However, a more sizable improvement could see him evolve into one of the game's premier players and propel the Spurs into title contention. Given his off-season workouts, that seems entirely possible.
