Everton extended their unbeaten run to four games after being held at home by Aston Villa. The Blues should have been ahead inside the opening five minutes, but Beto somehow fired wide.
David Moyes’ side continued to dominate, but to their credit, Villa grew into the game and finished the first-half strongly. The second-half was a little frantic at times, with Emiliano Martinez keeping out a Michael Keane header.
And below is how ECHO reporter Connor O’Neill rated the Everton players.
Jordan Pickford - 6
A strange game in which he had very little to do.
Jake O’Brien - 8
Was really impressive in the second-half. Drove forward and was a constant outlet down the right. Also solid from a defensive point of view.
James Tarkowski - 7
Wrongly penalised for a good tackle on Emiliano Buendia in the first half. The best he has played so far this season. Had it not been for a poor touch from Beto he could have had an assist
Michael Keane - 7
Another impressive display from the centre-back and went close to heading his side ahead in the second half. Also made a number of vital interventions.
James Garner - 7
Playing at left-back, he looked a lot more comfortable than he did against Leeds United. Defensively solid and did his best to support Jack Grealish.
Idrissa Gueye - 7
Was everywhere. And although his passing could be better, he so often finds himself in the right place at the right time to break up play.
Tim Iroegbunam - 6
A tough afternoon for the midfielder. Gave the ball away carelessly in the first half before being booked. In the second half he struggled to get into the game before being replaced.
Iliman Ndiaye - 8
Everton’s bright spark. Created a number of chances and had the beating of Lucas Digne. Should have had an assist after setting up Beto.
Kieran Dewsbury-Hall - 6
Showed moments of quality in the opening 20 minutes, but it ended up being one of those afternoons where nothing came off for him.
Jack Grealish - 7
Has the ability to get supporters excited like no-one else, but in the second half he was trying too hard. A couple of times he made the wrong decision when he managed to get himself into good areas.
Beto - 5
Should have fired Everton ahead inside the opening five minutes. Then went on to miss two more good opportunities. You can’t knock his effort, but he needs to be taking the chances that his team-mates are creating for him.

Merlin Rohl (on for Iroegbunam 66) - 6
Game on as the game was getting frantic. Gave a couple of silly fouls away.
Thierno Barry (on for Beto 75)
Had one chance, but never looked like taking it.
