Nick Woltemade was Newcastle United’s matchwinner on his debut against Wolves.
Nick Woltemade enjoyed a dream debut for Newcastle United after scoring the winner in the 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 23-year-old joined Newcastle for a club-record £69million from Stuttgart ahead of the international break. He then linked up with Germany and started both World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Northern Ireland before returning to Tyneside on Monday.
Woltemade only had four training sessions with his new teammates this week but head coach Eddie Howe wasted no time in starting his new summer signing.
And it was a decision that paid off, as Woltemade proved to be the match-winner against Wolves with a header in the 30th minute.

Reacting to his debut goal, Woltemade said: "Great debut. Can't be better. We won and scored a goal. I'm happy about my goal. It was tough, a good game.

Nick Woltemade on why he was substituted
Woltemade played 64 minutes at St James’ Park before being replaced by Will Osula. The striker revealed he ‘had to go off’ having suffered with cramps.
He added: "The Premier League is quite hard, I had to go off because I had cramps. For the first game I think it's OK to come in. It was amazing, the atmosphere, the team played really good balls, they involved me a lot. I think we did quite good.

“It was a hard game because we didn't win a game in the league before and it was really important that we won a game, especially a home game and we can look forward to the games."
"I was just here for four days now, so everything was new for me. I was putting that bit away and I was focusing on myself today. I think the coach already gave me such a good feeling, so I felt good on the pitch.
“I knew what to do and I guess you saw today everybody knew what they have to do. This win was really important."
