‘Rotten’: Tim Sherwood impressed by what Everton fans did during Aston Villa draw

Pundit Tim Sherwood has been left stunned by what the Everton fans did during their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.

It was a frustrating day at the office for Everton and David Moyes, as it was a case of three deserved points thrown away.

There were 20 shots taken by the Toffees, but still no goals at the Hill Dickinson Stadium; however, positives can certainly be taken

The game was a difficult one to win as Moyes was ‘fuming’ with Simon Hooper’s decisions, as the game did not run smoothly.

But Sherwood focused on what was happening off the pitch, as he was left very impressed.

Tim Sherwood says that ‘magnificent’ Hill Dickinson Stadium had ‘rotten’ atmosphere during Everton vs Aston Villa

It was the second game at the Hill Dickinson, and Sherwood, who was covering the game on Sky Sports, had to give a mention to the Evertonians’ atmosphere.

“They’re a raucous crowd, a rotten atmosphere here at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. It’s magnificent,2 Sherwood said.

There were worries that the new ground wouldn’t live up to the same feel as Goodison Park, but fans are already making it feel like home, and a nightmare for the opposition.

The away supporters tried to stamp their mark on the game as Villa fans booed former player Jack Grealish, but it was the Toffees making all the noise, according to Sherwood.

Although the result wasn’t what Moyes wanted, a sense of pride can be taken, as the new stadium is beginning to come to life.

Everton are going to be very hard to beat at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season

Although the Blues’ winning form didn’t continue, good signs are ahead for Everton’s fortunes at home.

It looks as though their unwelcome atmosphere at Goodison could well continue at HDS, and this gives a great feeling for the future.

The plan was to have the feeling of The Grand Old Lady by being closer to the pitch, and that seems to have been felt against Villa, with Jamie Carragher also saying it’s steep like Goodison.

To add to this, it was a dominant performance from Moyes’ side, and for once, Everton fans can feel annoyed that they didn’t get more from the encounter.

It’s a good feeling, and one that the supporters might have to get used to at home, as there is plenty to build on from the draw.
