Unai Emery has confirmed that Youri Tielemans suffered an injury during Aston Villa’s Premier League clash against Everton.
Villa remain goalless and winless in the Premier League after playing out a 0-0 stalemate at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tielemans started alongside Lamare Bogarde in a double pivot but was substituted at half-time, with Evann Guessand coming on in his place.
When asked about the nature of Tielemans’ injury and how long he might be sidelined, Emery didn’t reveal much, instead focusing on the commitment of his other midfield options.
"Yes," Emery responded when asked if Tielemans suffered an injury.
“Hopefully we can recover Kamara and Onana - Barkley too,” he then replied when asked about how long Tielemans could face out. “But today, Lamare Bogarde helped us a lot. He did a fantastic job and I’m happy for him. Lindelöf also played as a midfielder for 10 minutes. That’s the commitment we need.”
Emi Martínez was Villa’s man of the match after making several smart saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The closest Villa came to scoring was when Emi Buendía’s long-range effort flew just past the post via a deflection.
