Winning a game on the road in the NFL is hardly ever easy. Even if a good team plays a bad one, the game tends to be close. This is why Week 2 for the Seattle Seahawks was always going to be difficult, especially against the revitalized offense of the Pittsburgh Steelers and DK Metcalf.
Week 2 was also going to have more meaning than simply another regular season road game. It will mark the first time Metcalf will play his former team. While he might view the game as a revenge contest against Seattle, it is Seattle that should see it the other way.
Metcalf wanted out, and the team honored his request and traded him. If anyone should be upset, it should be Seahawks general manager John Schneider and head coach Mike Macdonald.
Seattle Seahawks final injury report ahead of Week 2 versus DK Metcalf and the Steelers
The problem is that Seattle is going to be missing some key players against Pittsburgh. It might feel too early in the season to be wounded entering a game, but that is the reality for the Seahawks. 12s knew rookie Nick Emmanwori (ankle) was going to miss the game, but the injury report was bad all week.
Safety Julian Love missed practice with a groin injury on Thursday. Cornerback Devon Witherspoon was dealing with a knee issue he appears to have suffered late in Week 1. Defensive tackle Jarran Reed has a back problem, and he didn't practice on Thursday.
Heading into Week 2, Emmanwori has been ruled out. Witherspoon is doubtful. The bigger loss is Witherspoon, of course. If he is unable to play, that hurts what Seattle can do in terms of versatility and aggression.
The Seahawks list Devon Witherspoon (knee) doubtful to play vs. Steelers. Nick Emmanwori (ankle) is out.
Julian Love (groin) and Jarran Reed (back) are not listed with game designations, which should mean they're good to go. Same with Chenna.

The good part is that Julian Love appears ready to go at full speed. So does Jarran Reed and edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu.
Sometimes players are held out with an injury designation to simply be rested, but that didn't appear to be the case with the Seattle Seahawks. They are truly a banged-up bunch. The Steelers, offensively, meanwhile, are not. They might still be finding their way with Aaron Rodgers behind center and the Rodgers to DK Metcalf connection, but facing an injured team might help them.
