NFL teams tried trading for this Eagles star. Howie Roseman’s response? ‘No dice’

Eagles star A.J. Brown is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL — maybe the best if you ask him. So it makes sense that teams would be interested in trading for him.

It also makes sense that the Eagles would have no interest in dealing the three-time All-Pro.

Brown “drew some interest months ago” from several NFL teams looking to upgrade at wide receiver, according to a Saturday report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

“But teams poking around during the offseason were told by Eagles GM Howie Roseman flat-out: no dice,” Russini wrote.

Russini added that “we’ll see if anything changes in the coming weeks,” noting Brown’s disappointing season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Brown was targeted only once by Jalen Hurts last Thursday, catching his lone pass of the night for an eight-yard gain with 1:45 to go in regulation.

Obviously, Brown — who seemed understandably frustrated after the 24-20 win — would prefer to be more involved in the offense.

“You know, that’s not something I can control,” Brown said in the postgame locker room. “What I can control is my effort for when the ball does come my way.”

With the Eagles trying to win back-to-back Super Bowls, it would be stunning to see Roseman trade Brown at any point this season. The 28-year-old receiver, who the Eagles acquired from the Titans in 2022, has been the team’s No. 1 receiver over the last three seasons.

Brown signed a three-year, $96 million contract extension in April 2024 that will keep him with the Eagles through the 2029 season.

We’ll see if Hurts and the Eagles make it a point to get Brown involved early when they square off with the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl LIX rematch on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
