Leeds United suffer huge injury blow after latest game

Leeds United once again learnt a hard lesson in the Premier League. So far, the Whites travels have not yielded any good results – the club have failed to win a game away from home.

But it could have turned out much different at Craven Cottage. The game was in the balance for over an hour, but Fulham introduced some attacking threats which turned the game on its head. Daniel Farke’s side were not able to deal with the directness in the second half, and the pressure mounted. An unfortunate own goal from Gabriel Gudmundsson sealed all three points – the ball took an unnatural deflection off his face and made it into the net.

This game was similar to the Arsenal loss, where Leeds had a bit of control in the first 30 minutes. Conceding from the first Arsenal corner opened the flood gates, and the Gunners won 5-0.

Leeds went into the match with nearly a full squad available. Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu had both recovered in time to be included in the matchday roster, while Joe Rodon and Gabriel Gudmundsson overcame minor knocks sustained during the international break. However, Joel Piroe was sidelined after picking up a bruise earlier in the week.

Dan James went off with an injury after just 12 minutes. The Welshman was brought on as a substitute for Brenden Aaronson, but was taken off soon after. Gnonto came on as his replacement late in the game.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke addressed this in the post match press conference:

“Played for Wales on Tuesday, so used a fully rested Aaronson. Thought he played excellent.

“[James] Got a hit to his body and was forced to take him off. We will have to wait for the assessment.

“Hope it’s not anything major.”

Injuries are quietly piling up at Leeds United

Lucas Perri has been ruled out for the next few games, and now there are questions about Joel Piroe. Dan James is now set to add to an injury list that is growing game by game.

Daniel Farke will hope these injuries are not serious, as the club could really miss some key players.
