GREEN BAY, Wis. ([WBAY](https://www.wbay.com/2025/09/12/man-loses-packers-season-tickets-argues-he-sold-them-during-cancer-battle/)/Gray News) - For fans of the Green Bay Packers, season tickets aren’t just seats; they’re part of a legacy, passed down through generations.
But one longtime fan says he is now facing the end of this tradition after selling his tickets during his fight with cancer.
For the past decade, Bob Brzezinski proudly has held season tickets to see his beloved Packers.
However, when cancer turned his world upside down, leaving him unable to attend games, he sold them.
As the Packers continue their non-renewal exercise, some fans who’ve sold 100% of their tickets won’t get them back, including Brzezinski.
“It doesn’t seem fair that they would take tickets away from someone battling cancer. It’s just not right, give me a chance to get the tickets back,” he said.
Brzezinski says he expects an invoice letter in the mail from the Packers every year. However, in February, he was shocked to receive a letter from the team stating that his season tickets would not be renewed.
“If I didn’t have cancer, I would’ve kept going to the game, I wouldn’t have sold them,” he said.
In 2021, Brzezinski was diagnosed with melanoma, a skin cancer. Doctors told him the cancer had begun to spread to his bones, leading to a hip replacement and shoulder surgery that left him unable to attend games.
“Melanoma isn’t something that really goes away, but I’m not getting treated anymore, and it’s been clear on the last few scans. So, I feel good enough to go to the games, and I can’t,” Brzezinski said.
According to Brzezinski, he sent an appeal letter to the Packers in March, explaining why he sold some of his tickets for the past two years.
In April, Brzezinski got another letter in the mail from the Packers, stating their decision to not renew his season tickets was final.
Brzezinski said it’s a major disappointment as cheering on the Packers at Lambeau Field has been a family tradition for nearly a century, with family members holding tickets since the 1930s.
“I went with my dad to so many games, so many memories being at games with him. He went to the Ice Bowl, and it was something to look forward to every Sunday we used to go,” Brzezinski said.
The Green Bay Packers shared the statement about their non-renewal exercise:
_“The Packers communicated with the individual account holders whose tickets were not renewed and provided them with an opportunity to share whether they had extenuating circumstances to explain why they had not utilized their tickets as intended._
_In some cases, account holders had their tickets renewed and in other cases, they did not.”_
The Packers say less than 1% of ticket holders were impacted by the exercise this year, which included season ticket holders who had sold 100% of their regular-season game tickets on the secondary market for multiple years in a row.
