Opinion: Farke could quickly lose Leeds United supporters after 68th minute stinker vs Fulham

Daniel Farke has done himself few favours at Leeds United following the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

On Saturday, Leeds United lost 1-0 away at Fulham in what was another frustrating performance, albeit one with enough positives to take into the next game.

Noah Okafor shone in the first half for Leeds United, making his full Premier League debut following his £18million move from AC Milan in the summer.

But Gabriel Gudmundsson’s own goal in the 94th minute stole what would’ve been a good point away from Leeds who now find themselves in 14th place of the Premier League table.

Alarmingly, Leeds are yet to score from open play in the Premier League this season, with their one goal coming from the penalty spot.

Daniel Farke makes baffling Leeds United substitution

Okafor was the bright spark for Leeds on Saturday. It was his third total appearance for the club having made his debut when Leeds United were thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal last month, but being an unused substitute for the game against Newcastle before the break.

And despite his positive showing at Craven Cottage, Farke brought him off the pitch after 68 minutes. Whether it was a fitness thing or a tactical thing, Farke replacing him with Jack Harrison really didn’t go down too well with the Leeds United fans online.

Not only is Harrison a divisive player among Leeds United fans, but Farke also had the likes of Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto sitting on the bench, before they eventually came on later in the game.

Leeds United’s stance on Daniel Farke’s future

Whilst many fans accept that the club’s lack of depth is down to the owners and the recruitment team getting it wrong in the summer transfer window, Farke still has to take blame for certain things, like the Harrison decision on Saturday.

The 49ers though are still backing Farke. Amid recently speculation that Jose Mourinho could be an option for Leeds, it’s been reported that Farke’s position at Leeds United is safe for the time being.

With more defeats and poor tactics, though, Farke will inevitably come under the spotlight, and he could easily be one of the first managerial casualties in the Premier League this season with fans only bound to ask more and more questions of the German.
