The Dolphins have no plans to trade star wide receiver Tyreek Hill currently

The 2025 campaign has gotten off to a particularly brutal start for the Miami Dolphins. They got demolished by the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, with the final score coming in at 33-8. As a result, the panic button has already been pushed by many of their fans, and it has resulted in trade rumors surrounding star wide receiver Tyreek Hill flaring up again.

With Hill publicly implying he wanted a trade out of Miami over the offseason, and new domestic violence allegations being levied against him, some folks believe that his time with the team is coming to an end. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, though, the Dolphins have reportedly taken a surprising stance on a potential trade involving Hill.

Dolphins Not Exploring Tyreek Hill Trade

Ever since falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Hill has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the league. An eight-time Pro Bowler who has also been named to five All-Pro First Teams, Hill’s speed and reliable hands have made him one of the most electrifying playmakers of his generation.

For as good as Hill is on the field, he often creates problems for his teams thanks to his propensity for getting in trouble off the field. Throughout his career, Hill has dealt with several concerning legal issues, and while they largely have not impacted his ability to suit up, it’s always something that teams have to keep in mind with him.

With Hill seeming unhappy in Miami and more legal issues popping up, it could make sense for both parties to pursue a trade that would see him land with a playoff contender that could take a flier on him. The Dolphins aren’t giving up on the 2025 campaign after just one week, though, as reports indicate that they aren’t taking trade calls on Hill, as they have no interest in dealing him currently.

“The Miami Dolphins have no plans to trade Tyreek Hill and haven’t received any calls from teams interested in the star wide receiver,” Schefter wrote for ESPN. “Sources told Schefter the Dolphins have not fielded any trade inquiries on Hill, who is in the second year of a restructured three-year, $90 million contract.”

In 2023, Hill enjoyed arguably the best season of his career when he racked up 119 receptions for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns, with the latter two figures both leading the NFL. However, over the past year-plus now, the Dolphins’ offense has been a mess, and that’s led to a downtick in production from Hill. In Week 1, he caught just four passes for 40 yards, as Miami struggled to get anything going on offense.

It’s worth noting that this is only one game, but it was a very ugly game, and it remains to be seen if the Dolphins can turn things around. While the world around them is panicking, Miami is attempting to remain calm, which is why they aren’t entertaining any trade calls for Hill. If they keep on struggling, though, that train of thought could quickly change, and it will be important for the team to put together a better performance in Week 2 against the New England Patriots.
