Leading up to the start of the 2025 NFL season, the Chicago Bears had reason for concern surrounding second-year franchise quarterback Caleb Williams.
Williams had plenty of reports that came out throughout the offseason about his struggles. He had a lot of questions to answer coming into the new year.
Unfortunately, in Week 1 action on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings, those questions were not answered. Williams didn't play a bad game, but he certainly didn't dominate and power his team to a win.

As shared by Courtney Cronin of ESPN, Williams' completion percentage went from 81 percent to 42 percent in the third and fourth quarter. He also recorded an off-target rate of 29.4 percent, which was the worst in the NFL last week.
Following the game, Williams spoke out about his missed passes. His comments will provide even more frustration for Bears fans.
"You did everything up to that point right, and then you miss a pass. And it's frustrating," Williams said.
"That's something that we practice on, something that we get after and something that I'm going to keep getting after, keep correcting. Passes that I feel that I typically don't miss in those moments and situations, especially with some of the passes being what they were and how wide open. You miss and you move on. You correct and you find ways to get better."
Granted, Williams is taking responsibility for his mistakes. He's also focusing on improving following those mistakes. However, the improvement hasn't been noticeable to this point.
Until Williams is able to make the jump to leading Chicago to wins, the fans are going to continue being frustrated. No one can blame them. The Bears haven't been a legitimate contender in years.
There is no denying the fact that Williams possesses elite potential. He could become a top-tier NFL quarterback. But, talent and potential does not always equal actual success.
Moving forward, Williams will continue to face a lot of pressure. Chicago needs him to start taking steps in the right direction on the field. Missing throws, especially as the game gets into clutch moments, is simply not something he can afford to keep doing.
