Mikel Arteta has expressed his satisfaction with Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates. The Gunners were in complete control for most of the match and were fully deserving of the three points.
A wonderful strike from new signing Martin Zubimendi, helped along by a deflection, gave Arsenal the lead. An early second-half Viktor Gyökeres goal, followed by Zubimendi's second, ensured Arsenal would reign supreme over Forest.
A happy Mikel Arteta spoke to the media after the match. This is what he had to say:
"A very good afternoon", - Arteta speaks on the quick turnaround from the international break
Arsenal had many of their key players go out to represent their nation in the September international break, leaving only a small amount of time for Arteta's squad to prepare for the Nottingham Forest match. The squad joined up only 48 hours before the encounter, but were still able to produce a very high-quality performance - something Arteta had a lot of praise for.
"It’s a very good afternoon because after the players have been travelling the world for the last 10 days with different national teams, different coaches with different habits.
"It's always a bit uncertain how we're going to play, how we're going to connect, the timings of everything, especially when we have only one day to prepare the game.
"But overall, I think we were very dominant throughout the game, created some big chances, scored three goals, and had another clean sheet, which is always very good."
"A lot of courage" - Arteta praises Madueke's performance and highlights impact of new signings.
Noni Madueke was certainly the summer signing for Arsenal with the most to prove early on in this season, with much of the fanbase expressing uncertainty around the signing.
But, after a fantastic international break in which he scored his first senior goal for England, there was a hope that the winger could build on this.
This is exactly what he did today, providing a constant threat down the wing and causing Morato, albeit a makeshift full-back, a lot of issues.
Arteta was impressed with the Englishman's performance against Forest and made this known to the media post-match
"A lot of courage, that's how I describe him.
"A lot of quality but a lot of courage.
"I think he has such a power, such a capacity to repeat efforts because to be able to do that physically, you have to have a different specimen, I think, and he's certainly that.
"But he's very skilful, very unpredictable, he's so willing to learn, and he brings joy. I look at him, and he's always smiling, he's always trying things.
"He gets one wrong, he goes again, and that's what I love about the creative players because you need that to be successful."
But Madueke was not the only one of Arteta's new recruits, as all three goals came from summer signings against Nottingham Forest. The Gunners' head coach made sure to point out how much these new acquisitions affected this encounter.
"I have no question in terms of what we want and dressing room and feeling part of that or the support that we're going to have from our people, no question.
"But then things have to click and go well for you in the first instances. We have tried to create the right environment for them, and the quality is there.
"I'm very glad that's so early already. You can see that they're going to add so much value to the team."
