Newcastle United hero Nick Woltemade has given his verdict on a new chant for him from the supporters.
Woltemade enjoyed a brilliant debut for Newcastle United in their 1-0 win over Wolves to get their Premier League season up and running.
The German international scored the only goal of the game, powering in a header from a Jacob Murphy cross.
It was a statement of intent from the 23-year-old. There have been suggestions that Newcastle overpaid for Woltemade, although the player himself can obviously do precious little about that.
All he can do is score goals and, on Saturday, he certainly did that.
Newcastle fans were delighted for Woltemade, with chants of ‘Woltemade, Woltemade ole, ole’ heard around St James’ Park.
After the game, the striker reacted to his new song.

He revealed that he couldn’t hear it during the game but was treated to it after proceedings came to a close.
Woltemade suggested he may not have got one if he was still playing in Germany, because of the difference in fan culture between the two countries.
“Just at the end, I heard it and I like it,” he said.
“In Germany, the fan culture is different so, yeah, to get your own song is really nice.”
Eddie Howe delivers instant verdict on Nick Woltemade
It will be fascinating to see what Eddie Howe does with Woltemade going forward.
The Newcastle United manager has consistently improved players while working with them on the training pitch, so there’s little reason to suggest he can’t do the same with the Germany star.
With Yoane Wissa injured, it was vitally important that Newcastle’s club-record signing hit the ground running.

Speaking about his new striker after the game, Howe said: “It was a great moment for Nick. I was very pleased with how he played. You saw his qualities, his technical qualities that we’ve been discussing and his intelligence.
“But most importantly for a striker, when the ball comes into the box, you need to be there – and he was. It was a great finish. I’m really pleased for him personally because that just settles him down and relaxes him. He’s a very humble guy, he wants to do well and he’s delighted to be here. I think it’s a great start.”
Woltemade looks set to start when Newcastle play Barcelona on Thursday. Hopefully, he can build on his opening goal when the Champions League returns.
