Miami Dolphins right tackle and Tua Tagovailoa’s blindside protector, Austin Jackson, initially suffered a toe injury in early August, sidelining him for most of training camp. He managed to play in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, but aggravated the injury late in the fourth quarter. Jackson did not participate in this week’s practice, prompting the Dolphins to rule him out for Week 2 against the New England Patriots, with Mike McDaniel saying the injury is nothing major.

Either Larry Borom or Kendall Lamm will take over as the starting right tackle and serve as Tua Tagovailoa’s blindside protector. Borom filled in for Austin Jackson versus the Indianapolis Colts, while Lamm was a healthy scratch. Of the two offensive tackles, Lamm has more career starts, with 44 to Borom’s 27.

Right guard James Daniels suffered a strained pectoral injury during the first quarter of Week 1. Although the injury is not season-ending, the Dolphins placed him on injured reserve on Tuesday, sidelining him for at least four games. 2021 undrafted free agent Kion Smith is expected to replace Daniels in the starting lineup.
