Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford as Cole Palmer changes the game but teammate drops 2/10 display

Chelsea were handed a fourth consecutive London derby this weekend, travelling to the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford.

Before that, Enzo Maresca‘s men faced Fulham, West Ham United and Crystal Palace, taking seven points from those three fixtures.

Chelsea were great in their last away game against West Ham, but they struggled at times during their outing at the Gtech Community Stadium.

With that in mind, The Chelsea Chronicle has rated each Chelsea player’s performance in the team’s 2-2 draw.

Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford

Robert Sanchez: 6/10

Probably could not do too much about Brentford’s opener. Distribution was a bit dodgy at times, but he has had much worse games in a blue shirt.

Wesley Fofana: 5/10

His first start in a while and you could tell. That being said, Maresca did not exactly help Wesley Fofana by playing him at right-back.

Trevoh Chalobah: 5/10

Was partly responsible for Brentford’s first goal but did make an excellent tackle in the second half. However, he then proceeded to give the ball away.

Tosin Adarabioyo: 6/10

One of Chelsea’s better defenders on the night but still had some shaky moments. Changes in the full-back position definitely affected Tosin Adarabioyo and Chalobah.

Jorrel Hato: 2/10

Jorrel Hato had a debut to forget and was rightly taken off at half time. Touches were sloppy and picked up a yellow card.

Moises Caicedo: 8/10

Swept up well as usual and scored an absolute beauty. Chelsea could have easily lost this match without Moises Caicedo, especially with how the defence performed.

Enzo Fernandez: 6/10

Tidy in possession but did not do anything outstanding. Brentford’s packed midfield and defence made things tricky for him.

Pedro Neto: 7/10

A constant threat down the right flank. Needs to keep it up with Estevao Willian now pushing him for a starting spot.

Facundo Buonanotte: 5/10

A difficult debut. Needs to do way more if he is to have any chance of actually putting any kind of real pressure on Cole Palmer.

Jamie Gittens: 3/10

Did not impact the game at all. Early days, but Jamie Gittens has really struggled since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

Joao Pedro: 6/10

Did not get too many opportunities but played a role in Palmer’s equaliser. Needs to stay fit after Liam Delap’s injury.

Cole Palmer: 8/10

Palmer helped Chelsea earn a point after adding some real quality in the second half. Took his goal extremely well.

Other substitutes: Marc Cucurella (6/10) Reece James (6/10), Tyrique George (6/10), Alejandro Garnacho (6/10)
