**Man City**are trying to turn their form around with a critical contest against **Man United**on Sunday afternoon. **Pep Guardiola**seeks to return to former heights, but that is not an overnight process.
‘I want to be in front all of the club’
With all the change at the club, the press asked Pep to compare this moment to the start of his reign.
*“I was younger. 10 years is a lot of time. It's not the same. When you change 10 players, it has been really important. Every time you have a process. The season before the start we just bought Savinho.”*
The collapse of the Citizens in the winter of 2024 highlighted how much work was necessary through the transfer market. Now, the club are looking to futureproof their success as quickly as possible.
“It was because I rely a lot the players we had but after last season many things happened in terms of injures, many problems that we had and the club decided for the next years to make the first step.”
With the exits of **Ederson**and Ilkay Gundogan,, **Bernardo Silva**and **John Stones**are the only two players who signed as senior figures before the start of the decade. Times are changing for Man City.
“I’d love to have the players from eight, seven, six years ago but it's impossible. Always there are changes and when you change 10 players in four or five months everything needs to be settled fixed and coordinated and we are doing very many good things but still we have to be more consistent.”
The board has given Guardiola backing to stay in the dugout until 2027, but he wants to enjoy the same success from seasons past. Walking away from a fallen champion is the last thing on his mind.
“Results dictate all the positions and I have to make a good season for that. I will not stay here when I will feel that the club needs to change. But right now I feel I want to do it more than ever. That what happened last season and especially now in that moment and I want to be in front all of the club.”
He remains comfortable in Manchester, but he wants to build on the legacy he has forged with City.
“I'm not here just for because I've done in the past. I like to look forward that's why we had incredible success because all the time that’s what we are thinking. I never could have expected one decade ten seasons here I'm so proud of that. I want to help the team the club still being there again and again.”
A derby day victory for the first time in four attempts would go a long way to lifting the mood.
“We always have a high respect for our city rivals. Players came back good and I'm looking forward for our fans. I know how important it is and it's really important game for us to change the dynamic and be in our mood and I trust a lot with the players a lot and yeah, we're going to do good game.”
