Zola And Redknapp Heap Praise On Keith Andrews After Brentford Shine Against Chelsea

Keith Andrews secured his biggest result as Brentford manager, as the Bees claimed a 2-2 draw at home against Chelsea on Saturday evening.

Brentford played all of the football in the first half and a Kevin Schade goal had them leading 1-0 at the break. Enzo Maresca called on the cavalry at halftime. Sub Cole Palmer equalised in the 61st minute and it looked Chelsea had the game won after Moises Caicedo's rocket in the 85th minute.

However sub Fabio Carvalho chased down a long throw and fired home to give Brentford a deserved draw.

It was a hugely composed performance from Brentford, and it proved that Andrews is growing into the role.

Brentford may have lost their captain and two top goalscorers in the transfer window, but the result against Chelsea was proof of the depth of Brentford's squad and the strength of the club's overall culture.

"I'm aware of the narrative around the club. Naturally when top players leave the building - which they have - it naturally creates a bit of uncertainty. I've been pretty comfortable with the way the club has gone, and the decisions that have been made. Because it's so well run."

Andrews went on to praise the club's environment and its ability to nurture talent like Fabio Carvalho, who scored tonight's equaliser.

The Dubliner clearly impressed Gianfranco Zola and Jamie Redknapp in the Sky Sports studio.

"A couple of thing he said touched me, that I totally believe," Zola said.

I work with the Italian federation for the third league and we are trying to establish this kind of mentality in the clubs. If you really create an environment that helps the players to get the best out of them, and I think Brentford is one of those good examples for us.

Redknapp said he can see Andrews' personality in Brentford's performances.

"To be thrown that if you were Pep Guardiola would be difficult, let alone your first job. Your first managerial job. It was never going to be easy. I think he's so settled. He's obviously very intelligent. Knows the game. He's very calm and assured and it rubs off on the players."

Tonight's result leaves Brentford in 12th place with a win, a draw and two losses from their first four Premier League games.
