Great warns of looming challenge Ange must face

Mark Bosnich has expressed his concerns about the players at Nottingham Forest as Australian manager Ange Postecoglou looks to implement his fierce attacking style.

A battle against Arsenal at the Emirates was never going to be an easy task for any manager in the league to face, let alone a manager making his debut with a new club.

Arsenal's new signings left their mark on the field in a clear warning to their upcoming Champions League opponents with a 3-0 win over Postecoglou's Forest side.

A Gunners win was not unexpected – the 3-0 result was the same as what former Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo managed against the side last season.

The Australian manager had just one full training session to prepare for Arsenal, and his team ultimately produced a similar playing style to that seen under Nuno.

But one major challenge Postecoglou now faces is working with a squad of players who were brought together to play a different brand of football to what the Aussie usually employs.

"I was a little bit concerned," Bosnich told Today.

"Mainly because of the fact that I was looking at the players he has got and they have been brought in in a different way under the previous manager.

Football's new home, Stan Sport, is the only place to watch the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, WSL, European World Cup qualifiers, J.League, NSWL and K League

"Ange is going to have the issue of when do I start to click the fingers and say 'Look, I want to implement the way I want to play'.

"His team definitely played like they did in the past, understandably so because he has only been there for so long.

"The next five games are going to be very resultful games. There is no one in the next five games that they really should be afraid of.

"Is he going to do it then? Is he going to wait? Only time will tell."

Postecoglou said it will only be a matter of days until the league sees his style return.

"It won't be months, it won't be weeks, it will be Wednesday," Postecoglou said when asked how long he will need to implement his brand of football post-match.

"I cannot afford to waste time. This is not a project.

"This football club had a strong season last year, they need to be stronger this year, my job is to get us to where I want us as quickly as possible.

"On Wednesday, we will start seeing principles being embedded. It won't take long and I will not let it take long.

"I will make sure we turn it around because we have an unbelievable opportunity to make an impact this season and I am not going to let that slip."

While some are still questioning why Forest have appointed a new manager so soon, midfielder Elliot Anderson said the team is "all focused" under Postecoglou.

"Losing 3-0 is tough to take but it's the first game under the new manager and there are a few positives to build on," Anderson told TNT Sports post-match.

"We only had one session together so it was tough to put things into the game but I'm sure more will come.

"Postecoglou said in the changing room just to trust him and we'll get back on the training ground and look at things, ideas we can improve on - we're all focused.

"We've got the players in the changing room to do what he wants to do, so we all just need to believe in it, put things into practice and we're positive it'll pay off."
