JJ McCarthy missed some practice time during the week to be with his fiancee for the birth of their first baby. His fiancee Katya Kuropas has since shared some photos on Instagram of their baby.
McCarthy’s son Rome Micah McCarthy was born this week, weighing 8.7 pounds and measuring 21 inches long.
“Welcome to the world Rome Micah McCarthy. The sweetest, most perfect gift from God!! We are so unbelievably blessed to be your parents,” Kuropas wrote as the caption to her Instagram post announcing the birth.
The two starting their family is something that has been in the works for a while. McCarthy and Kuropas have been together for seven years, going back to high school in 2018.
McCarthy and Kuropas got engaged in January 2024, not long after McCarthy led Michigan to the national championship. They now share a child together and remain engaged.
The birth of their first child comes the same week that McCarthy led his Minnesota Vikings to a comeback win for his first win as an NFL quarterback. After becoming a first-round pick last year, McCarthy suffered a knee injury that kept him out for the season. Now he is healthy and trying to prove himself in the NFL, while also embracing fatherhood.
