Ange Postecoglou says he has no problem with being written off after receiving brutal chants from Arsenal supporters during his return to the Premier League.

The Australian coach, who managed Tottenham Hotspur between 2023 and 2025 and led them to a Europa League triumph, was dismissed in the summer following a disastrous domestic campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th. Just weeks later, he was appointed Nottingham Forest head coach after the club parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo.

Postecoglou’s first game in charge came on Saturday as Forest fell to a 3-0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Throughout the match, Arsenal fans targeted him with mocking songs, including: “Cheer up, Postecoglou, oh what can it mean, to a fat Aussie b**d and a s*** football team.”

They also taunted: “Are you Tottenham in disguise?” and “You’re getting sacked in the morning.”

The perfect afternoon for the Gunners. Three goals scored by two new signings and a clean sheet.

We take those and we move on to Tuesday.

Despite the hostile reception, Postecoglou brushed off the abuse, tellingtalkSPORT: “I love being back. I love that probably everyone will be writing me off again. I love the fight, mate, and I’m up for it. So let’s get it on.”

Speaking separately to the BBC, the 59-year-old admitted disappointment at the result but praised his players’ effort.

“It’s not nice losing any game. They’re a very good side and pretty formidable at home. But even in that context, it’s disappointing. The players gave everything, they had the right endeavour, but the second goal pushed it away from us.

“It’s been a really disruptive week for the players. We’ve only had one training session together, but hopefully now we can start bedding in some of the principles we need to. I’m really happy with the squad. A lot of players haven’t had opportunities yet or were signed late, but that will be rectified over the next few weeks.”

Postecoglou will be hoping to steady the ship quickly as Forest look to move on from their early-season turbulence under their new manager.
