Manchester United haven't got off to the positive start fans had hoped for this season, but the 3-2 win over Burnley last time out lifted the mood ahead of today's Manchester derby.

United produced a spirited display in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on the opening day, but their inability to defend a one-goal lead at Fulham and that chastening night at Grimsby heaped the pressure on Ruben Amorim.

The win over the Clarets was badly needed, but now United have a real chance to kickstart their campaign with a trip to the Etihad.

Manchester City have also suffered a poor start to the campaign, losing two of their first three Premier League games, and so today's clash promises to be a fascinating affair.

Ahead of the Manchester derby, here's the latest on the United injury front:

Matheus Cunha

Cunha picked up an injury in the win over Burnley and was subsequently forced to withdraw from international duty with Brazil.

Amorim provided an update on the forward during Friday's pre-match press conference, saying: "They (Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot) are out for this game (vs Manchester City), I don’t know how long it’s going to take, we need the guys to be a very, very competitive team. We have players who are eager, so we will be competitive on Sunday. But they are out, they cannot help us in this game.

"I don’t want to say. If you talk with Cunha, if you catch Cunha outside, he will say he can play this game! I don't know. We will manage day by day but they are pushing really hard. And that is a good thing."

Potential return date: Saturday, 20 September (Chelsea, H)

Mason Mount

Like Cunha, Mount came off in the win over Burnley, being replaced at half-time.

As mentioned above, Amorim has ruled the England international out of the clash with City.

Potential return date: Saturday, 20 September (Chelsea, H)

Diogo Dalot

Dalot played the full 90 minutes of the win over Burnley, but was forced to withdraw from the Portugal squad last week.

The Portuguese Football Federation released a statement saying Dalot had "complained of muscle discomfort", and he will play no part on Sunday.

Potential return date: Saturday, 20 September (Chelsea, H)

Lisandro Martinez

Martinez has been sidelined with an ACL injury since February, but the defender has returned to training and it's hoped his comeback may not be too far away.

Potential return date: Unknown
