Rasmus Hojlund scores on Napoli debut, but should have added a second

Rasmus Hojlund was immediately named as a starter by Napoli, following his midweek goal for Denmark on international duty.

Hojlund coolly finished a one-v-one in the 14th minute, slotting past former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

His goal put Napoli 2-0 up against Fiorentina, and they went on to win the game 3-1 away from home, an impressive result.

Hojlund played 73 minutes, and really should have added a second goal when he was denied during a goalmouth scramble.

But with his side collecting all three points, this was a positive debut for the Manchester United loanee.

Rasmus Hojlund sent a message out on social media following his happy debut for Napoli, showing his positive mindset.

Hojlund wrote on Instagram: “First day at the new job didn’t disappoint.”

He received a response from Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, who wrote: “Love it mate 🔥👏”

Rasmus Hojlund’s next game is one to watch. He will be in action for Napoli this week when they face Manchester City in the Champions League.

Napoli were impressed by Hojlund’s performances for United in the competition in 2023/24. And he looks to be warming up nicely, now two goals in two consecutive games for club and country.
