Bruno Guimaraes has praised debutant Nick Woltemade for scoring in Newcastle United’s 1-0 win against Wolves on Saturday.
At last, the Magpies got their first Premier League win on the board thanks to a goal from their new club record signing.
Nick Woltemade’s first-half headed goal was more than enough to secure the three points for Newcastle United against a lively Wolves side. It was not a classic performance by any means, but Eddie Howe’s players knew the assignment and delivered.
After Yoane Wissa’s injury blow, Woltemade was handed his first start for the club and collaborated well with the midfield, allowing Newcastle’s wingers to get in behind on multiple occasions.
The German has received praise from multiple avenues since his debut goal, including from Newcastle legend Alan Shearer. Now, club captain Bruno Guimaraes has sung the praises of the striker.

Guimaraes also put in a brave performance against Wolves, playing the full 90 minutes just a few days after a game at a high altitude for Brazil in Bolivia.
The midfielder was reunited with Joelinton on Saturday, who missed the draw against Leeds United with a groin injury, which also forced him out of international duty.
Newcastle are back on the right track with their win against Wolves, moving up to ninth in the table for the time being and giving themselves a major confidence boost ahead of a significant game against Barcelona.

Guimaraes was born for moments like this, and he will have his opportunity to show those who may not be familiar with him exactly who he is against Barcelona.
Guimaraes has already provided some memorable moments as club captain; he will be desperate to give the club even more to remember for years to come.
