Former Chelsea and Aston Villa star Chris Sutton believes that Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo will play a major role in the upcoming Manchester Derby on Sunday.

Mbeumo will be playing in his first Manchester Derby this weekend, with Manchester United and Manchester City set to do battle at the Etihad in the Premier League.

As one of United’s star players during the early exchanges of the 2025/26 campaign, Sutton expressed that Mbeumo can be a ‘thorn’ in the Citizens’ backline on Sunday.

“I can see Bryan Mbeumo hurting City, with United counter-attacking and him being a thorn in their backline chasing balls in behind,” Sutton wrote in his BBC Column, as per United In Focus.

“I am also not as convinced by City if James Trafford keeps his place in goal.

“So, I think United will definitely score, but I still cannot go against City at the Etihad Stadium because we know they will create chances there.”
