**Will DK Metcalf have a big game against the Seahawks?**
After six years with the Seattle Seahawks, DK Metcalf is on the opposite sideline as the Steelers’ top wide receiver. Although he downplayed the significance of playing his former team, even Mike Tomlin said this game means more to him. Naturally, people predict a big game in his first opportunity to face his former team.
It doesn’t always work out that way—but it certainly could in this instance. After all, Metcalf is clearly the Steelers’ top target by a good margin, which was never the case with the Seahawks. He always had Tyler Lockett, for example. Even as Aaron Rodgers insists he needs to give Calvin Austin III more opportunities, only one guy makes $30 million annually.
In Week 1, DK Metcalf drew seven targets, catching four for 83 yards. Although he dropped one, bobbled another, and couldn’t reel in two others through contact (read: uncalled defensive pass interference), he still made an impact. If the Steelers can control time of possession, he should have as many or more opportunities against the Seahawks.
What qualifies as a big game is a matter of interpretation. In six years with the Seahawks, Metcalf recorded 15 100-yard games. Interestingly, he only had multiple touchdowns in two of them. Overall, he has seven career multi-touchdown games, only one in the past two years.
One encouraging sign that DK Metcalf could be in for a big game against the Seahawks is that he had a career-high 68 yards after the catch last week. Typically a deep threat, he is more liable to earn most of his yards through the air. With Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, however, he could see more opportunities to run in open space. And with a shaky situation in the Seahawks’ secondary, the opportunity is there to do some damage.
