Evan Ferguson joined AS Roma from Brighton & Hove Albion on an initial loan deal with the option to buy in the summer transfer window.
The striker has impressed in his first two games for the Italian giants, assisting once and showing that he could be on the way to fulfilling his potential.
The 20-year-old is expected to start for Roma against Torino on Sunday.
As a result, Corriere dello Sport note that the arrival from Brighton can become the first U21 Giallorossi player in 30 years to start the club’s first three league games. The last player to do that was Roma legend Francesco Totti.
While there is a long way to go for Ferguson to come close to replicating the Italian’s legacy, the newspaper indicate that the buzz is growing in Rome for the Ireland international.
They believe that he had ‘top notch’ games against Bologna and Pisa and this is why manager Gian Piero Gasperini is convinced about starting him against Torino at the weekend.
The manager wants to make the youngster a key part of his side, with the player slowly becoming a fan favourite.
