Former Nottingham Forest boss 'in thoughts' of Premier League strugglers

Former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo could be back in work soon after going on to West Ham’s managerial short list of potential replacements for under pressure Graham Potter.

The Sun claims that the Portuguese coach, who had a hugely successful spell with the Reds, is being lined up for a swift return to the Premier League if Potter “fails to deliver”.

The former Wolves coach is, according to transfer specialist Alan Nixon, “admired” by owner David Sullivan who has “fancied him before” and may go for him again.

Ironically, Nuno lost his job at the City Ground after a fall out with the club’s hierarchy, culminating in his losing his job after the Hammers beat Forest 3-0 in a game when Potter’s future was considered to be on the line.

His availability now “puts him in West Ham’s thoughts,” claims the report which also states that Frank Lampard is a “clear and strong” candidate for the post after impressing with Coventry City on the back of his previous experience.

The article concludes that Potter needs to keep winning as West Ham assess whether to back him in the next transfer window.

It also says that there are “snags” regarding the interest in Nuno, namely his “personal demands to have a say on signings and the size of his backroom staff”.
