David Moyes has not been afraid to oversee a staff overhaul since he arrived at Everton in January.

The Scotsman has brought in numerous faces off the pitch as well as on it, which has helped improve the results in the Premier League almost immediately.

Earlier this year, Everton oversaw the return of Peter Cavanagh, who has since joined the academy setup at the Toffees, with the likes of Angus Kinnear also appointed under the Friedkins.

Now, Moyes could oversee further changes as the return of Mick Doherty is mooted.

Everton are still deciding whether to bring back Mick Doherty

Doherty is a well-known scout around Merseyside.

Over the years, he has worked at numerous clubs, including Everton and Sunderland under Moyes’ stewardship.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Now, according to Alan Nixon on Patreon on 14 September, the scout could now return to the Toffees.

Doherty has worked with Moyes at both Everton and Sunderland

Most recently, the scout was at Atalanta

Moyes is now looking to reunite with Doherty

Doherty had been linked with a move to Everton earlier this year, but the transfer team are still debating whether to bring him back into the fold.

The report states that discussions have been held between Doherty and James Smith, but there has yet to be a move to bring him back.

The former Atalanta scout is said to be keen on the move, and inside word states that Doherty “will be appointed” eventually.

Moyes needs to add more backroom staff to Everton

While the addition of Doherty would be a step in the right direction, more backroom staff are needed to get the best out of the Toffees’ players.

Everton are still without a set-piece coach, making them one of the few Premier League teams not to have at least one.

Therefore, Moyes also has to look into this and quickly fill this vacancy before it costs the Toffees on the pitch, with their strength possibly heightened in that area.

Hopefully, more appointments will be made over the next few months and as soon as possible.
