Nuno Espirito Santo could reportedly make a swift return to Premier League management with West Ham United as the pressure grows on Graham Potter.
Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon that Nuno has emerged as a contender to replace Potter, who is feeling the heat after his Hammers suffered a third defeat of the season. A 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham Hotspur means his side have taken just three points from their opening four games.
Their only win, ironically, came away to Nuno with a 3-0 victory against Forest, which proved to be the Portuguese tactician's final game in charge of the Tricky Trees. It's claimed that West Ham owner David Sullivan is an admirer of Nuno and has previously looked at appointing him at the London Stadium. He was a huge success at the City Ground, guiding Forest to a seventh-placed finish last season after a lengthy top-five challenge.
Potter took over the Hammers in January and was tasked with turning the tide amid a worrying period for the East London outfit. Nine months later, however, there has been little to no improvement, and the threat of the sack looms.
If Nuno were to arrive as his replacement, it would be his fourth Premier League managerial job after stints at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Forest. He made an immediate impact at the City Ground after replacing Steve Cooper, and Sullivan may feel he can galvanise a beleaguered West Ham side.
The Irons may want to move quickly for the experienced Portuguese, given he'll likely be receiving interest due to his availability.
