Cooper DeJean is embracing Philadelphia — and the Brotherly Love is mutual.

Despite his newfound fame in the football-crazed city after his heroic Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles cornerback tells PEOPLE that he's still able to go around the city largely unnoticed — though it takes some effort.

"I feel like I can blend in pretty well," DeJean, 22, says, speaking via Zoom from his Center City apartment at 210 South Street. "I try to, at least. It's gotten a little harder since the end of last season, but I usually try to put a hat on and go about my business."

"But people have started to recognize me more and more around the city of Philly, which is cool. I don't mind it sometimes. But yeah, it definitely happens more than it did when I first got here."

DeJean grew up in Odebolt, Iowa, a small city with a population of just over 900 people and no stoplights.

The University of Iowa alum, who was the 40th pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, made history during the 2025 Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs with his interception and touchdown — also known as a pick-6 — marking the first for the Eagles in a Super Bowl and only the second-ever by a rookie in the title game across the NFL.

Plus, it happened to be DeJean's first-ever touchdown, and came on his 22nd birthday.

In the months since his monumental February, DeJean moved into his new apartment at 210 South Street, a new luxury development in Center City, which he tells PEOPLE is "awesome."

"It's got a lot of big windows, a lot of space. You get the natural sunlight in every single morning, which is nice to wake up to," he continues. "Get a nice view of the city, nice view of the Delaware River, so it's got it all."

When asked about what makes his home feel like home, DeJean enjoys the fact that he has "a quiet place I can go relax, feel comfortable in."

"It's got nice views. Just hang out. You can walk anywhere in the city from my place. It makes it easy to go get food or do whatever you want from living right there in Center City."

As for what makes the cornerback's apartment decor unique, it's a sentimental painting and a very Philadelphia jersey hanging up.

"I actually have a cool painting in my podcast room from the Super Bowl. It kind of highlights the play from the Super Bowl, which is pretty cool," DeJean says of the studio he set up for his and Reed Blankenship's Exciting Mics podcast.

"And the jersey I have up is actually, someone gave it to me, it's a kelly green Eagles 33 jersey and it's DeJawn on the back, D-E-J-A-W-N."

Per Merriam-Webster, "jawn" is "an informal term used mainly in (or associated with) Philadelphia, to refer to any person, place, thing, event, etc. whose name one does not know or, more often, does not need to specify because it can be inferred by context." Plus it's a fun, city-centric play on his last name.

Now in the new NFL season, DeJean and the Eagles already have one win under the belt, and hope to make it a second on Sunday when they face the Kansas City Chiefs for a Super Bowl rematch.

"It'll be a fun game going on the road, playing in their stadium," he says. "Both teams are different than last year. I'm sure there'll be a lot of hype around it and everything, but it'll be a good match of force, good test. Playing against such a great team has been good for a long time."
