Chelsea are in the mix for Marc Guehi to land the defender on a free transfer next summer, with massive competition in place for the centre-back.
According to TBR, Chelsea are in the mix for Marc Guehi and are eager to sign the defender on a Bosman deal next summer. The Crystal Palace centre-back was the subject of a failed move to Liverpool on deadline day, and while the Merseysiders are the favourites to land him on a free transfer, there’s big competition in place, including the Blues as well as other sides.
Chelsea are considering a Bosman move for Marc Guehi next summer, with the defender attracting massive interest ahead of 2026. The Blues need a top draw centre-back, and there might not be a better name in the market than the England international at the moment.
Guehi failed to make the move to Liverpool on deadline day after Crystal Palace called off the deal owing to their inability to find a late replacement. The defender is expected not to renew with the Eagles and move on a free transfer in the summer of 2026, with Liverpool currently the favourites to land him on a Bosman deal.
They are not alone in the mix, with Real Madrid readying a lucrative contract to prise the defender to the Santiago Bernabeu. Manchester City are also keen, while Manchester United and Arsenal had held an interest during the summer, but without making serious inroads to sign him.
As for Chelsea, they know the player and his camp well, given that Guehi graduated from the Cobham Academy before joining Crystal Palace. The idea is to find a top-drawer centre-back, and signing him on a free transfer will largely suit the Blues, as they are not planning on a January approach.
Marc Guehi is set to have a choice of clubs
As for Guehi, he will have more than one option compared the last summer, when Liverpool seemed like the clear-cut favourite to land the defender they failed to sign in a £35 million deal. While the Merseysiders are still the favourites to land him, the defender will have his choice of options to select from.
Hence, by no means is the race for Guehi over, as the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United could also make their presence felt if they decide to make room for the £35m FA Cup winner. Chelsea will also hope he chooses to make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge, as they are one of the strong contenders, especially if they manage a continued presence in the Champions League next season.
