NFL Week 2 matchup: 49ers at Saints
The 49ers ruled Purdy out of the lineup on Friday, adding to the team’s list of questions as coach Kyle Shanahan and company look to bounce back from an injury-marred 2024 season. After being linked to the 49ers by many leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones landed in San Francisco as a free agent after a run with the New England Patriots. He gets shoved into starting duty early with a chance to help his team weather a key early injury.

The Saints move into ‘25 with many expecting them to compete for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but with those low expectations in mind were more than competitive in a 20-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. The Saints threw more than twice as often (46 plays) as they ran (22), which could be a theme for the season with scoring deficits likely to become routine.
The 49ers and Saints are set for a 1 p.m. ET start on FOX. Live streams are available from FuboTV (free trial), DirecTV (free trial) and SlingTV (low intro rate).
