NFL Week 2 matchup: Seahawks vs. Steelers
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers delivered a monster debut in black and yellow and defeated his old team with 244 yards and four touchdown passes to four players. The 41-year-old compiled his best single-game passer rating (136.7) since November 2022 and showed perhaps a new dimension of a Steelers attack that has often lacked a consistent passing threat since future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger stepped away after the ‘22 season. All that offense, though, and it was kicker Chris Boswell playing the role of hero as he kicked a 60-yard field goal that gave the Steelers a 34-32 lead with 1:03 to play.

The Seahawks also worked around big changes to their offense in the offseason, as quarterback Geno Smith exited in free agency and the team signed veteran Sam Darnold to replace him. The new-look attack faced a stiff test in the San Francisco 49ers defense in Week 1, and the Niners maintained control with a strong defensive showing and an efficient performance from quarterback Brock Purdy. San Francisco limited the effectiveness of the ‘Hawks offense largely by keeping them off the field. Seattle ran just 50 plays and had only 22:02 in possession time, but was still in position to steal a win late until the 49ers scored the game-winner on a 68-yard touchdown drive with 1:34 left.
