Ahead of Week 1, the Steelers are adding Jon Rhattigan to their LB corps.

Jon Rhattigan started his NFL career as a Seattle Seahawk, but on Sunday, Sept. 14, he’ll be lining up with a black and gold jersey against his former team. The Pittsburgh Steelers activated the linebacker from the practice squad for this week, before he will be reverted back to the practice squad after the game.

Rhattigan has 52 NFL games under his belt, 36 of which came between 2021-2023 when he was a member of the Seahawks. He made 32 tackles in his career with Seattle, most of which came on special teams where he primarily played. In his NFL career, Rhattigan has only take 20 snaps on defense, with the rest coming on special teams.

The Steelers have elevated Rhattigan as depth for their defensive line this week.

Rhattigan spent last season with the Carolina Panthers before signing with Pittsburgh in the offseason. He was a standout at Army in his college career, especially his senior year when he had two interceptions, 1.5 sacks and 78 tackles in 11 games. He signed with Seattle after the 2021 Draft as an undrafted free agent.

Seahawks Injury Report For Week 2

The Seahawks have eight players listed on their injury report for week two, though only two will be out for Sundays game. Safety Nick Emmanwori and CB Devon Witherspoon have both been ruled out.

Wide receivers Jake Bobo and Dareke Young were both questionable after week one with a concussion and hamstring respectively, but both were full participants in practice this week.

Linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Ernest Jones had injuries, but were both full participants on Thursday and are expected to be ready for gametime.

Julian Love and Jarran Reed both missed practice Thursday after being limited participants on Wednesday, but are both full-go’s for Sunday.

Seahawks Look To Bounce Back Against Steelers

A resurgent Aaron Rodgers has taken headlines by storm as he led his new team to a week one victory over the New York Jets. The Seahawks meanwhile, fell to the San Francisco 49ers 17-13 after taking a three point lead into the fourth quarter.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba carried the Seattle offense in week one as he made nine catches for 124 yards. QB Sam Darnold only threw for 150 total yards, 124 of which were to JSN and the other 26 to three other pass catchers.

Cooper Kupp was pretty much invisible in week one, only getting three targets from Darnold as opposed to JSN’s 13. Kupp caught two of his three opportunities for 15 yards.

The Steelers defense did allow 32 points to a up-and-coming but ultimately below average New York Jets offense in week one. The Seahawks will look to take advantage of the Steelers defensive unit that did not play up to snuff in week one.
