'Bad decisions': Roy Keane and Danny Murphy agree on 'shocking' Liverpool issue that occurred vs Burnley

Liverpool beat Burnley 1-0 during their Premier League game at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds were well below par, and to be honest, they were lucky they didn’t concede with the odd chance that Scott Parker’s men got.

Mohamed Salah was once again below par, but, in the end, he made up for his lacklustre performance and bagged the winner.

Indeed, Burnley did have almost all of their players behind the ball throughout the entire game, but it feels like more should have come from Liverpool.

These feelings are also shared by Roy Keane, who was less than impressed by Arne Slot’s men.

Roy Keane believes Liverpool were ‘shocking’ in the final third against Burnley

One of the main problems that Liverpool have faced this season is creating enough chances to prove their dominance.

Indeed, their first two Premier League games of the season ended with them scoring seven goals, but in all honesty, the Reds were very lucky with the outcome of those games.

Burnley have only won one top-flight game this season against Sunderland, and although their defence is solid, the fact that Salah, Ekitike and Cody Gakpo couldn’t break it down, until a last-minute penalty, is a massive cause for concern.

And, while live on Sky Sports, Keane shared his verdict on the way that Liverpool played.

“Some of their final third passes in the first half were shocking,” he said.

Danny Murphy agrees with Roy Keane and says they were ‘poor’ in the final third

Although Keane and Danny Murphy were on two separate outlets, it’s clear that they both had the same idea about Liverpool.

Although the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch more than did their part in the clash, the attack let them down on more than one occasion, which is why fans were shocked that Alexander Isak was left out of the squad.

Even though Ekitike was taken off for Federico Chiesa, the Italian failed to have much of an impact on the game, which led to Murphy suggesting that they’d made some “bad decisions.”

“Liverpool have been poor in final third, some bad decisions, not great movement, and poor technique. It is so unlike them,” he said in quotes relayed by BBC Sport.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether Liverpool will learn from their mistakes before they face Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, but one thing is certain: if they play like they did against Burnley when they face Diego Simeone’s men, their Champions League campaign will get off to a rocky start.
