[Manchester United](https://manunews.com/) legend Roy Keane knows a thing or two about great defending, and the Sky Sports pundit certainly didn’t see an example of it when the Red Devils surrendered a first-half opener to Phil Foden at the Etihad on Sunday in the Manchester Derby against Manchester City.
Keane highlighted left-sided center back Luke Shaw, who is a left back by trade, as being the culprit on the goal, which was wonderfully set up by another electrifying dribble from Man City winger Jeremy Doku.
The former Irish international said of Shaw, “Shaw just gives up. It’s like he has thrown in the towel. United had all the numbers back.”
Shaw has become a massive liability for Manchester United, and there is a gulf in class between himself and the other center backs in the squad, specifically starters Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt next to him,
The clear weak link compared to those two, Shaw only starts at center back when there are injuries, such as to Lisandro Martinez. But it’s hard to justify Shaw starting over Maguire when he looks this listless. He might be finished at the Manchester United level, and he may have already been finished years ago.
