Players to Watch:
Erling Haaland (City): Rich scoring form. If City treats him well, he can be the difference-maker.
Bruno Fernandes (United): Remains United’s creative spark. Has been vital this season, particularly after their early victories.
Gianluigi Donnarumma (City): Big-game goalkeeper. Could make his derby debut.
Altay Bayindir (United): Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan. Altay is under scrutiny, but his manager has said he’ll begin. Whether he rises to that challenge might be very important.
Recent Form & Context:
Man City had a few changes over the summer. The key players have departed; others have signed. They lost their previous Premier League game prior to the break, and they have had a bit of a mixed record.
Man United has also been patchy. They earned a dramatic victory over Burnley on the cusp of half-time with a late penalty.
The last time they met, Man United did a comeback against City in the very last minute to win 1-2. Amad scored the winner.
Author’s Insight:
Considering both sets of injuries, this game will be close. City has greater depth but is without some important attacking and defensive assets. United patched up but have momentum.
I’m going 2-1 City. I think City to win, perhaps a Haaland goal and some inventive play by Silva or someone. United could come in through set-piece or counter, with Fernandes being central.
