Allen raced to the sideline and removed his helmet after a short run on a second down, having collided with old nemesis Michael Clemons.
Mitch Trubisky earned his keep and kept the drive alive on third-and-7 with an on-the-money, 32-yard throw to Joshua Palmer.
He was bleeding profusely from his nose. A team of trainers tended to him, trying to stop the bleeding. They finally got it stopped, and Allen returned to the huddle when play when the series resumed at the start of the second quarter.
