Steve Haney, Beasley’s lawyer, spoke to the Detroit Free Press about the league’s probe, which is looking into potential misconduct under the collective bargaining agreement.
"That investigation is currently ongoing and we’re cooperating, providing whatever information we can to hopefully get Malik clear so he can resume his free agency," Haney said.
The inquiry stems from Beasley’s connection to a federal gambling case earlier this summer. Federal authorities cleared him of wrongdoing, but the NBA is conducting its own independent review.

Haney highlighted that leaks surrounding the case have already affected Beasley’s opportunities in free agency.
"This news of the investigation… definitely caused him to lose some opportunity in free agency and hopefully there’s still a pathway that he can still get back on track for next season," he added.
Beasley, 28, enjoyed one of his most consistent seasons with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 16.3 points per game on 41.6 percent three-point shooting across all 82 regular-season games.
