Roy Keane’s biggest ‘worry’ is something that he thinks all Man Utd players share after Man City loss, ‘we were told’…

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane dropped his telling instant reaction to Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United were unable to assert their dominance over Manchester City and Ruben Amorim’s men were blown out of the water in the Premier League clash.

Phil Foden opened the scoring for City with a superb header past Altay Bayindir in the first half, with Jeremy Doku picking up the first of his two assists in the match.

Jeremy Doku secured his second assist at the Etihad after the break, with the 23-year-old winger playing City striker Erling Haaland through with a superb ball.

Erling Haaland ran onto Doku’s through-ball and the Norway international lifted the ball over an onrushing – and helpless – Altay Bayindir to put City 2-0 up in the tie.

The 25-year-old Norwegian striker signed off his stunning performance after he was played through again and slotted the ball past Bayindir in a one-on-one challenge.

Roy Keane reacts to Man Utd’s performance vs Man City and the Sky Sports pundit’s major concern is as clear as day

Manchester City comfortably beat Manchester United in the first Manchester derby of the 2025-26 season and Pep Guardiola’s men climbed their way up the table.

Pep Guardiola’s side are eighth in the Premier League after Sunday’s result, while United tumbled down to 14th place in the table after tasting defeat at the Etihad.

Speaking after City’s 3-0 win over United, former Red Devils skipper Roy Keane was deeply critical of what he witnessed in the Premier League clash on the weekend.

Keane admitted that his major “worry” is that the United players might not have as “much faith” in the club’s project under manager Ruben Amorim as it might seem.

“We were told the manager needed a pre-season, his own players and they have spent over £200m so we keep making excuses,” he said on Sky Sports, as per BBC Sport.

“When are we going to see signs? You see [Arne] Slot going into Liverpool, they end up winning the league and [Thomas] Frank to Spurs, are they improving? Yeah.

“My worry is… maybe the players haven’t got that much faith in it. As much as the manager is saying, ‘This is where we are going,’ as the results don’t come and you are getting beaten by the better teams, he is making loads of changes… it is like they are going round in circles.

“We gave him the benefit of the doubt when he first came in.”

Roy Keane drops a brutal verdict on Man Utd under Ruben Amorim after the Premier League defeat vs Man City at the Etihad

The Red Devils have won only one Premier League match in the 2025-26 campaign, with United beating Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford ahead of the September break.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane argued that United are “obviously” experiencing issues under Amorim and opened up about his “concern” for the Red Devils.

The 54-year-old United legend said: “This United team lack that real quality. They struggle defensively. There are obviously issues.

“You talk about the system, but the manager is sticking to his guns; he is not budging.”

Keane added: “You look at the results and the points per game, goals for and against. It is not good reading. It does concern me.

“As soon as the game starts, you are worried, but you get that feeling against any decent team.

“They have scored four goals and two of them were penalties. So, they are not a free-scoring team. It is almost the same problems as last year.”

United will face Chelsea at Old Trafford next after the City defeat, with the Premier League clash scheduled for a 5:30pm kick-off time in the UK on 20th September.
