Manchester City hosted rivals Manchester United at the Etihad as City claimed bragging rights with a 3-0 win.
Pep Guardiola’s men were keen on returning back to winning ways after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hand of Brighton last time out.
The Red Devils were hoping to build on their last victory over Burnley at Old Trafford.
In the 18th minute, Phil Foden broke the deadlock on his first start of the season after Jeremy Doku skipped past Luke Shaw and delivered a pinpoint cross onto the head of the Englishman to nod home.
It became Foden’s seventh goal in 12 appearances against Manchester United for the Cityzens in the Premier League.
The first half ended in City’s favour, as they had the lead against their local rivals going into halftime.
United looked sharp after the break and could not take their chances, as they would soon be punished by Erling Haaland.
Haaland doubled City’s advantage eight minutes after the break, with Foden and Doku combining to set up the Norwegian, who was too strong for Shaw to deal with as he dunked it over Bayindir with a decent finish.
Three minutes later, United found themselves in trouble as Manuel Ugarte cheaply gave the ball away 30 yards from his own goal.
Reijnders rolls the ball to Haaland after executing a beautiful dummy, and the striker rounded Bayindir, but the post came to the Red Devils’ rescue as Foden blasted the rebound over the bar.
Mbeumo thought he had halved the deficit with a well-struck volley towards the far corner, but Donnarumma tipped it around the post for a corner with a stunning save.
In the 68th minute, Haaland got his second of the evening after he was released by Bernardo Silva with a beautiful chip from the halfway line. The Norwegian kept his cool in front of goal and passed the ball into the far corner for City to have a commanding lead.
Mbeumo soon got another chance in the dying minutes of the game, but he could not direct the ball past Donnarumma from an Amad cross.
Manchester United have one win in four games this PL campaign, and they host Chelsea in their next game, while City travel to the Emirates in seven days to take on Arsenal in their next PL game.
