Jets lose two top defenders in nightmare against Bills

Jets edge Jermaine Johnson exited Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills with an ankle injury.

With less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Jets announced that Johnson has been ruled out for the game.

Johnson missed the majority of the 2024 season after tearing his Achilles in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.

Johnson was taken into the blue medical tent in the second quarter and was questionable to return going into the second half.

The Jets selected Johnson with the No. 26 overall pick in 2022. He had a 7.5-sack 2023 season that earned him a Pro-Bowl selection the year before his Achilles injury.

Defensive back Michael Carter II also exited Sunday’s game in the final seconds of the third quarter and is questionable to return with a shoulder injury.

Jets safety Tony Adams (groin) was also downgraded to out.

The Jets trail the Bills, 30-3, at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
