If Week 2 proves anything, it's that the Jaguars don't need Tank Bigsby

Immediately after their domination of the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, the Jacksonville Jaguars made a shocking trade: they gave Tank Bigsby, an up-and-coming running back assumed to be RB2 after Travis Etienne, to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bigsby clearly has a bright future ahead of him, so trading him away was not something Jaguars fans saw coming. But the reason was clear: Jacksonville had enough trust in their other running backs, Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen.

While both are rookies, Tuten in particular looked promising, with there being plenty of buzz around him during training camp and the preseason. There were even rumors that he was being seriously considered to take over RB1 from Etienne. That, obviously, didn't happen, but it took no time at all for Tuten to have Jaguars fans asking, "Tank who?"

Bhayshul Tuten stands out against the Bengals

Bhayshul Tuten had a big quarter right off the bat, racking up yards and making it look easy. He was able to slip off Trey Hendrickson - one of the best DEs in the league - and rocket to 24 yards in one run.

He followed that up with a touchdown, the first of his career in the regular season.

Before the first half was even over, Tuten was proving that the Jaguars won't miss Tank Bigsby. He's the first rookie running back for the Jaguars since 2020 to catch a touchdown.

Tuten may not be able to fill Etienne's shoes - yet - but he's making a big name for himself already. Before he was drafted, he had the fastest 40-yard dash (4.32 seconds) for running backs at the NFL combine, and was known for being able to escape tackles and make significant yardage afterwards.

Liam Coen had great things to say about Tuten, and pointed to him specifically as the reason the offense was able to improve so much. "He can get to the second or third level and score from anywhere on the field," Coen said.

Tuten was so good that the Jaguars were shocked he was still available by the time they were able to get to him, but that just means he was a great steal for Jacksonville. Tank Bigsby was good, but Tuten might end up being even better. It looked initially that the Eagles got the better end of that trade, but seeing how well Tuten is already playing against the Bengals, the Jaguars might not end up missing him at all.
