Roy Keane critical of Luke Shaw after Manchester derby defeat, 'he doesn't even...'

Roy Keane was heavily critical of Luke Shaw after the Manchester derby.

Manchester United’s poor start to the new season continued on Sunday as Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat against Man City.

Phil Foden answered his critics after 18 minutes by scoring a header as Pep Guardiola’s side took advantage of United’s sloppy defending.

United weren’t as clinical as City in front of goal and that showed in the second half, as Erling Haaland netted a brace to make it 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

There was no way back for United, and all three goals came from shoddy defending. It comes as no surprise that much of the debate after the game focused on the individuals who made costly errors throughout the game.

Luke Shaw slammed by Roy Keane

Former United captain Roy Keane was never one to hold back.

Keane wasn’t happy with the United players after the match and questioned their commitment, which is acceptable for the derby match.

Luke Shaw was among the worst performers as his defending led to City’s first two goals. The England international was sloppy for the third goal, too.

Shaw got worse in the closing stages of the game.

Keane pointed out how Shaw has had an easy ride at United for years, despite rarely being fit.

“Shaw is an international footballer, so for him to get caught out like that,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“I think he has been getting away with murder for years at United. Always injured and never quite fit.

“We make excuses and then he gets a few games under his belt and he’s making decisions like he doesn’t even want to tackle anyone.”

Keane also pointed out how there wasn’t one yellow card in the derby. That would suggest United were too nice on what was considered a feisty occasion once upon a time.

Shaw stats vs Man City

The Shaw experience continued against City.

The left-back isn’t considered a wing-back under Amorim, so he has been tested in a back three.

Shaw has performed well up until the derby, but it was an alarming display that will lead to more questions than answers, especially when Amorim has Ayden Heaven to select from.
