Manchester City could offload £43 million playmaker in January amid Serie A links

Manchester City could sanction the departure of Juventus target Bernardo Silva at the start of 2026.

According to a report from Juvelive.it, Bernardo Silva could be heading for the exit as early as January. The Portuguese international was linked with a move away this summer as well. While he ultimately stayed at the club, he could still leave mid-season amid strong interest from Juventus.

After a disappointing 2024/25 season, Pep Guardiola has decided to revamp his squad to stay ahead of the curve. To ensure City continue their dominance, he wants to bring in fresh faces to gradually replace some of their veteran stars.

Silva could leave City in January

While several experienced campaigners have already left the club, Silva could be the next to go. The 31-year-old arrived at the club back in 2017 from AS Monaco in a deal worth £43 million. He has since been an integral part of the team and has helped win all major titles.

Silva still remains an integral part of Guardiola’s team, but with his contract running out, they could cash in on him this winter. The Portuguese international was linked with a move away in the summer, but things didn’t work out for him.

However, there is still a lot of interest in his services, and he could choose to walk away mid-season. While Guardiola wouldn’t want to lose such a key figure halfway through a season, he is unlikely to stand in Silva’s way if he decides to make a move.

Juventus are keen on signing Silva

Juventus are one of the clubs that are interested in his services. Silva is only 31, and he certainly has a few more years left in him; as a result, Igor Tudor wants him at the Turin-based club. His ability to feature in the centre of the park as well as out wide on the flank could certainly come in handy.

More importantly, Silva has a wealth of experience and having won it all, he could add a lot of value to the Italian club’s dressing room. If he decides to leave City in January, Juventus could certainly try their luck. Apart from the Serie A outfit, Benfica are also keen on re-signing him. As a result, the Portuguese international’s future is one to keep an eye on.
