Manchester United have added Michele Di Gregorio to their list of potential new goalkeepers, with an approach planned for January.
According to Juve-Live, Michele Di Gregorio is the latest name on Manchester United’s shortlist for goalkeepers. The Red Devils are planning to make an approach for the Italian star in January, but may find it challenging to convince Juventus to let go of the 28-year-old mainstay.
Manchester United were expected to bring in a new No.1 goalkeeper this summer, but left it very late in the window. Having signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day, the Belgian may not even be signed as a first-choice stopper, and could be the long-term replacement for Altay Bayindir.
The latter did not leave the club, and it was Andre Onana who joined Turkish side Trabzonspor, as Manchester United will look to sell the Cameroonian next summer. Hence, they will be looking for a new No.1 in the near future, with Manchester United expected to make inroads ahead of the January window.
Manchester United are considering a winter move for Emiliano Martinez, a player they actively held an interest in back in the summer. There are other names, with Juventus star Michele Di Gregorio the latest to be added to their shortlist.
Di Gregorio joined Juventus on loan from Monza, and after an impressive season, the move was made permanent this summer. The 28-year-old mainstay is seen as a key star by Igor Tudor, which will make life difficult for Manchester United in pursuit of the Italian star.
Manchester United want Michele Di Gregorio in January
Manchester United does not want to wait until the summer to make an approach for Di Gregorio, as they are already planning one in January. Whether they will be successful then remains the question, as Juventus are unlikely to entertain any offers for their 28-year-old mainstay.
Unless there’s a ridiculous offer on the table, Manchester United’s chances of landing someone like Di Gregorio are remote to none. They might still try, but it might be a case that they enter the January window with multiple options on their list, with the Juventus star one of those.
