The Cincinnati Bengals were able to pull out a hard-fought 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Unfortunately, superstar quarterback Joe Burrow went down with an injury during the win.
While fans were holding their breath that Burrow's injury wouldn't be anything serious, their hopes and prayers seem to have gone unanswered.
A new update has been provided on Burrow's toe injury. It isn't good news.

According to Jeremy Rauch of Fox 19, Burrow is believed to have suffered a turf toe injury with torn ligaments. The expectation is that he will miss "weeks" with the injury.
"Source: Joe Burrow is believed to have turf toe with torn ligaments," Rauch wrote. "Tricky timeline on his return, but expectation would be several weeks."
Just how long Burrow will be out is unknown at this point in time. The phrase "several weeks" is very alarming.
Right now, the Bengals would be relying on Jake Browning to be their starting quarterback. He stepped in for Burrow and performed at a decent level to lead Cincinnati to a win over the Jaguars.
After Burrow went down with the injury, Browning completed 21 of his 32 pass attempts for 241 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. His turnover numbers were concerning, but he got the job done.
Could the Bengals consider making a move for an outside quarterback? How about a move for Atlanta Falcons veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins? That option could very well be on the table at this point in time.
Regardless of which direction Cincinnati chooses to turn, no one can replace Burrow. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and was expected to be a potential MVP candidate this season. That will no longer be the case.
Hopefully, he is able to attack his recovery process and get back on the field as quickly as possible. It's another unfortunate setback in his career that has been full of unfortunate events.
Expect to hear more news about Burrow in the near future. For now, this update is all bad news for the Bengals. Fans should brace for him to miss quite a bit of time due to his toe injury.
