The New York Jets lost 30-10 to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, marking the second straight week the defense has looked terrible.
The Jets' defense gave up 34 points to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. This week, Josh Allen and the Bills put up 30 points. Jets two-time All-Pro Sauce Gardner spoke on his defense's performance in Week 2.
"We gave up 30 points so ... not good," Gardner told reporters after the game, per SNY.
Gardner was very clear after last week's loss as well, saying the defense needs to be better. The Bills' offense had its way with the Jets' defense, and through two weeks, the Jets' defense looks terrible.
Gardner signed a four-year, $120 million extension this offseason. He is one of the best defensive players in the league and the star of the Jets' defense. Although he is not the only player on the field, he plays a huge role in the Jets success on that side of the ball.
The Jets likely expected their defense to be much better, especially after hiring a defensive-minded head coach like Aaron Glenn. Glenn was the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions from 2021 through 2024 before becoming the Jets head coach.
Glenn was part of bringing the Lions back to relevance after years of poor play. The Jets have not had a great season in a while, and Glenn hopes to do something similar to what the Lions did with him on the staff.
