The Dallas Cowboys had the good fortune of playing the division rival New York Giants without standout left tackle Andrew Thomas suiting up for Big Blue. Backup James Hudson was thrown into the game, and he was so terrible that he became one of the NFL's biggest laughingstocks.
It's hard for Cowboys fans to decide which mistake, or group of mistakes, was funnier. Perhaps it was Hudson committing four penalties on a single drive that limited the Giants to a field goal. Maybe it was this new horrific blocking form that will make every offensive line coach belly laugh.
The cherry on top was Hudson, who was removed from the game after his terrible first drive, going nuts on the sidelines, screaming and getting physical with members of the Giants staff. Cowboys fans needed some levity after watching that first half.
Cowboys fans can laugh at Giants after James Hudson sideline meltdown
Hudson made the wrong kind of history by becoming the first payer in NFL history to be called for four penalties on one drive. Many analysts also said that this came after some internal noise implying te Giants felt very good about their offensive line. Hudson has ruined it all in one quarter.
Even in a first half that was dominated by the Giants in terms of time of possession, the Cowboys have to feel fairly confident about their chances of taking down a team who has lost 15 of their last 16 games against Dallas. Hudson giving them an assist certainly makes things easier.
Even as the Cowboys try to pick themselves up in the wake of the Micah Parsons trade, they should feel more than confident in their ability to put together a better season than the Giants. At least their left tackle isn't losing his mind on the sidelines after a historically bad drive.
Despite all of the hype around Jaxson Dart and the multitude of things the Cowboys can do wrong in any given time period, the fact that Hudson is still embarrassing himself in such a comical fashion goes to show that the Cowboys can still consider themselves a tier above the Giants.
